On October 9, 2020, at the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation the conference timed to the IV International Competition of Student Scientific and Analytical Papers on Middle East issues was held. The meeting was organized by the Center for Oriental Studies and the Center for Foreign Policy Cooperation named after E. Primakov with the assistance of the Gorchakov Fund, Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Diplomatic Academy.

The conference participants were welcomed by Vladimir Avatkov, Associate Professor of the Department of International Relations of the Diplomatic Academy, Director of the Center for Oriental Studies; Oleg Ivanov, Vice-rector for scientific work of the Diplomatic Academy; Roman Grishenin, Deputy Executive Director of the Gorchakov Fund; Tatiana Kashirina, Head of the Department of International Relations of the Diplomatic Academy; Aslambek Mozloev, Head of the Department of Oriental Languages ​​of the Diplomatic Academy.

The participants of the event discussed a wide range of issues related to the contemporary problems of the countries of the Middle East. In particular, there were discussions about the role of the Middle East region in modern international relations, the general dynamics of the development of events in the Middle East, and approaches to ensuring security in the region.

Ivan Bocharov, Referent at the Russian International Affairs Council, took part at this conference. His report was devoted to the deepening crisis in relations between Egypt and Turkey.
