On May 6, 2019, Andrey Kortunov, RIAC Director General, and Dmitri Trenin, RIAC Member, Director of the Carnegie Moscow Center, had a meeting with Jens Plötner, Political Director of Germany's Federal Foreign Office. The meeting was also attended by the German Federal Foreign Office staff and representatives of the German Embassy in Moscow, including Rüdiger von Fritsch, the Ambassador of Germany.

The following issues were discussed in the course of the meeting: Russia-Germany and Russia-the EU relations, the possibilities for reducing tensions between Moscow and Washington, and the prospects for resolving the crisis around Ukraine in the context of the presidential elections in the country.
