On February 26, 2018, news agency Rossiya Segodnya hosted a Russian-Indian conference on education issues, organized by the Embassy of India in Moscow.

The purpose of the event is to find ways for increasing Russia-India interaction by enhancing cooperation in education. Heads and representatives of the leading Russian universities, of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation, NGOs, as well as students from both countries took part in the event.

Pankaj Saran, Ambassador of India to Russia, and Alok Raj, Minister (Education & Community Welfare), Embassy of India to Russia, made welcome remarks at the opening session.

The participants of the Conference paid special attention to the Internet internationalization of Russian and Indian universities. Despite the significant percentage of student exchanges between Russia and India, the potential remains unrealized. This situation develops for many reasons. The main reason is the lack of information. Foreign target audience, applicants, students, scientists, teachers, and partners can not find the information they are interested in on the university's website.

Ivan Timofeev, Director of Programs, Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC), author of the methodology for the assessment of the English-language Internet portals of Russian universities, shared his experience of solving this issue. He told how to solve this issue by optimizing the content on the university's website for specific requests from foreign audiences.

«The poor content issue is relevant not only for most Russian universities, but also for many foreign universities when the English language is not a native tongue. RIAC has been making research on this issue for many years, which resulted in an annual rating of the internationalization of Internet portals of Russian universities. Moreover, the Council pays great attention to education, because it is one of the most important assets that has a high potential for the development of bilateral relations as a whole,» —Ivan Timofeev noted.
