On November 9, 2021, the International Crisis Group (ICG) held an international expert workshop on the current situation in Syria.
The meeting focused on the state of affairs in
Idlib, the situation in the Kurdish-controlled northern regions of Syria, the
prospects for reaching a compromise between Damascus and the political
opposition in the southern province of Daraa, as well as military and political
interaction in the Russia-Iran-Turkey triangle.

The meeting focused on the state of affairs in Idlib, the situation in the Kurdish-controlled northern regions of Syria, the prospects for reaching a compromise between Damascus and the political opposition in the southern province of Daraa, as well as military and political interaction in the Russia-Iran-Turkey triangle. Other issues included the economic situation in Syria, the possibility of withdrawing the U.S. troops from this country, the likelihood of restoring full-fledged diplomatic relations and large-scale economic cooperation between Syria and the Gulf monarchies.
