On December 10, 2020, the Russian Association of European Studies and “Europe — Middle East” Center at IE RAS Department of European Security, held an international conference on Euro-Atlantic solidarity: the Middle East vector. The event was held online.

On December 10, 2020, the Russian Association of European Studies and “Europe — Middle East” Center at IE RAS Department of European Security, held an international conference on Euro-Atlantic solidarity: the Middle East vector. The event was held online.

The participants discussed possible shifts in U.S. policy in the Middle East in the context of the presidential transition in Washington, the combination of ideological, geopolitical and economic factors in shaping the strategy of the West in the regions of the Middle East and North Africa, the dynamics of the position of these regions in the general system of foreign policy priorities of the United States and the European Union.

The speakers of the forum included several RIAC members: Alexei Gromyko, Director of RAS Institute of Europe; Vasily Kuznetsov, Director, Center for Arab and Islamic Studies, Institute of Oriental Studies at the Russian Academy of Sciences; Vladimir Baranovsky, Director of RAS Center for Situational Analysis and Member of RAS IMEMO Board; Andrey Kortunov, RIAC Director General; Irina Zvyagelskaya, Head of Centre for the Middle East Studies at IMEMO RAS; as well as a large group of RIAC experts.
