On February 5, 2019, Russian International Affairs Council held a seminar “Challenges and Opportunities in Relations between Russia and France”. The special speaker was the French Foreign Minister (1997–2002) Hubert Védrine. The meeting discussed issues such as risks to relations between Russia and the EU, prospects for Russia-France relations, the future of the EU, and Russia-EU relations.

Leonid Slutsky, Chairman of Duma Committee on Foreign Affairs, RIAC Member; Alexey Portansky, Professor of World Economy and International Affairs Department at Higher School of Economics; Mark Entin, Head of the Department of European Law at MGIMO-University and other RIAC members and experts took part in the meeting. Sylvie Bermann, Ambassador of France to Russia, also took part in the meeting.

Andrey Kortunov, RIAC Director General, moderated the discussion.
