On April 16–17, 2018, Vienna hosted the fifth meeting of the OSCE Informal Working Group on Structured Dialogue (OSCE IWG Structured Dialogue), focusing on the reduction of security risks, de-escalation and comparative assessments of threats from international terrorism.

The format of the structured dialogue, created in 2016, has become one of the most significant and representative platforms where politicians, diplomats, military, and experts from all European countries, the United States, and Canada discuss practical issues of strengthening security in the Euro-Atlantic space.

Within the framework of the fifth meeting in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Austria, an expert round table "Between Realpolitik and Cooperative Security: European Security System Based on Rules" was held for participants of the Structured Dialogue. On the Russian side Andrey Kortunov, RIAC Director General, made a speech at the round table.
