On May 16, 2023, RIAC held an expert round table on information and image support for Russian-African relations, its challenges and prospects. Two sessions of the round table were devoted to the issues of the current state of Russia's image in Africa and analyzing tools and approaches for its improvement and development.

The participants of the discussion stated that serious challenges in the Russian information policy for Africa did exist, along with the absence of a long-term media agenda and a narrative adapted for different African states in the field of Russian-African relations. At the same time, experts noted that Russia has soft power tools with beneficial effect on creating an attractive image of Russia in Africa, including training of African specialists in Russian universities, Russian technologies that can be adapted to African realities, opening new cultural centers, etc.

The round table was attended by leading experts from RAS Institute for African Studies and RAS IMEMO, representatives of Russian scientific and educational centers, including the National Research University Higher School of Economics, MGIMO MFA, PFUR, as well as representatives of non-governmental organizations and the media.
