On June 9, 2020, the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) hosted the Global Think Tanks Online Forum on International Cooperation to Combat COVID-19. The Russian International Affairs Council served as a co-organizer of the meeting.

RIAC President, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia (1998–2004) Igor Ivanov delivered welcoming remarks at the Opening session.

Xie Fuzhan, President of CASS, Xu Lin, Vice Minister of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee and Director of State Council Information Office of China, Fukuda Yasuo, former Prime Minister of Japan, Roza Otunbayeva, former President of Kyrgyzstan, Kevin Rudd, former Prime Minister of Australia and President of Asia Society Policy Institute, Stjepan Mesić, former President of Croatia, Danilo Türk, former President of Slovenia and President of the World Leadership Alliance – Club de Madrid, Essam Sharaf, former Prime Minister of Egypt, Zeng Peiyan, former Vice-Premier of the State Council of China and Chairman of the China Center for International Economic Exchanges, Vladimir Norov, Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, as well as other distinguished participants from China and other states took part in the Opening session.

On June 10, panel sessions dealing with global cooperation to fight COVID-19, public health, global economic recovery and other topical issues will be held.
