In 2017 Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC) starts a series of events titled “Asian Dialogue” devoted to bilateral and multilateral cooperation of the Asia Pacific states, security problems and a number of the other topics of the regional agenda. The series of meetings started by a discussion with a Japanese expert Mr. Michito Tsuruoka, Senior Research Fellow at the National Institute for Defense Studies (NIDS) of the Ministry of Defense of Japan, Non-Resident Research Fellow of the Tokyo Foundation.

The series of meetings started by a discussion with a Japanese expert Mr. Michito Tsuruoka, Senior Research Fellow at the National Institute for Defense Studies (NIDS) of the Ministry of Defense of Japan, Non-Resident Research Fellow of the Tokyo Foundation. On February 20, Mr. Tsuruoka delivered a speech titled “US Foreign Policy under the Trump Administration and Its Implications to International Order” and shared views with leading experts on Russia-US and Russia-EU relations.
Timur Makhmutov, Deputy Director of Programs of RIAC, opened the meeting. Liudmila Filippova, Program Manager for the Asia Pacific at RIAC, moderated the discussion.
Participants of the meeting discussed the prospects for forming a new world order and reforming the global architecture under Trump administration, the priorities of the US’s foreign in Asia and Washington-Tokyo relations, implications of the change of administration in the US on Russia-Japan ties, Moscow-Washington dialogue and prospects of thaw, possible effects of US’s withdrawal from the Trans-Pacific Partnership as well as results of the meeting between Donald Trump and Shinzo Abe held in February, 2017.
