On September 30, 2021, the 17th EUREN (EU-Russia Network) meeting on the election period and correlation between domestic and foreign policy in EU-Russia relations was held online. The opening remarks were made by Markus Ederer, Ambassador of the European Union to the Russian Federation, and Andrey Kortunov, RIAC Director General.

On September 30, 2021, the 17th EUREN (EU-Russia Network) meeting on the election period and correlation between domestic and foreign policy in EU-Russia relations was held online. The opening remarks were made by Markus Ederer, Ambassador of the European Union to the Russian Federation, and Andrey Kortunov, RIAC Director General.

The discussion focused on the impact of the parliamentary elections in Germany on its foreign policy and the impact of the elections to the Russian parliament on bilateral relations. Other agenda issues included the processes that might influence the development of Russia-Germany and Russia-EU relations after Angela Merkel leaves office of Federal Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, as well as a number of other issues.

The meeting was attended by the members of EUREN expert group, researchers from Russia and EU countries. The discussion was moderated by Janis Kluge, Senior Researcher at SWP, EUREN Coordinator. RIAC was represented by Ivan Timofeev, RIAC Director of Programs, Natalya Vyakhireva, RIAC Program Manager, and Milan Lazovich, RIAC Program Assistant.
