The transformation of the Commonwealth of Independent States is a natural process, Chairman of the Executive Committee – CIS Executive Secretary Sergei Lebedev told reporters on 7 June after the CIS Heads of Government Council meeting, BelTA has learned.

“We had a candid and detailed discussion of issues related to the adaptation of the CIS to the realities of today's world. The heads of the delegations shared their opinions on the activities of the Commonwealth. It was concluded that such transformation is a natural process for any international organization,” Sergei Lebedev noted.

He believes it is necessary to streamline the activities of the CIS to keep up with the times. “Today we thoroughly discussed the matter at the level of heads of government.
