About the Conference

Relations between Russia and China have entered a new stage of comprehensive partnership and strategic cooperation. Russia and China attach special significance to bilateral cooperation in search of new sources of growth.

On 1 January 2015, the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) went operational. Back in 2013, the Chinese concept of a Silk Road Economic Belt was voiced. Both initiatives were called on to boost economic cooperation in Eurasia and have significant potential for growing collaboration between Russia and China. Russia's Chairmanship in the SCO and BRICS in 2015 creates an additional impetus to development of the bilateral relations. The visit of PRC President Xi Jinping to Moscow in May and his talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin are a major event of the bilateral relations in 2015.

On 29 May 2015, the Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC), in co-operation with the Institute of Far Eastern Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences (IFES RAS), is holding the international conference "Russia and China: A New Partnership in a Changing World". The discussion will focus on Russia-China cooperation in bilateral, regional and global affairs.
