Victor Romain's Blog
Victor has spent twenty years, working and living in Russia – teaching Business English to some of Russia’s top companies CEO’s as well as their key personnel + working with some of Russia’s most elite families, as an English language tutor. Victor has taught Business English language topics; ranging from cross-cultural communication issues, international marketing, to Energy English and General English, Academic IELTS + all other types of Cambridge English exams. During his time in Russia, Victor became totally immersed in learning the Russian language and culture – initially spending all of his free time, dedicated to his Russian studies, which he studied entirely on his own and with the help of his English students. Starting out in Rostov-on-Don, in May of 1995, Victor was only planning to stay in Russia until the end of his original, nine-month contract. However, he fell in love with the country and its people and was then asked to open up a subsidiary English language school, in khimki, Moscow Region, for the same Moscow-based company he had been working for in Rostov-on-Don. Victor has also acted, with accreditation, in three Russian films, done voice-overs, English language sub-titles, live radio and has appeared on Russia’s comedy club channel, KVN. Victor has devoted most of his professional time to working with young and older students alike and has also worked extensively with young teenagers, from less fortunate environments. Finally, he has a love of good food, socialising, cooking, golf, hosting parties, Russian billiards, fencing, reading, boxing, cinema and all that Moscow has to offer, in the way of its vibrant art, culture and restaurant, life-style scenes.
