Российско-канадские отношения в период кризиса, 2014-2020 гг.

В данной статье рассматривается развитие российско-канадских отношений в период с 2014 по 2020 гг., а также выявляются области, в которых сотрудничество между странами остается возможным. Кризис в отношениях России и Запада оказал влияние на развитие российско-канадских двусторонних отношений, которые находятся в самой низкой точке со времен окончания холодной войны. Несмотря на санкции и обвинительную риторику политиков с обеих сторон, по-прежнему возможно «нишевое сотрудничество» между двумя странами в тех областях, которые представляют взаимный интерес. Сотрудничество по неполитическим вопросам и использование инструментов альтернативной дипломатии (дипломатии второго трека, парадипломатии, бизнес-дипломатии и парламентской дипломатии) представляются эффективными с точки зрения поддержания взаимодействия между государствами в период кризиса. Взаимодействие в арктическом регионе на двухсторонней и многосторонней основе — одно из многообещающих направлений сотрудничества между Россией и Канадой.

Официальная Оттава не поддерживает идею диалога с Москвой, а в России как Канада, так и российско-канадские отношения не входят в число центральных тем политического дискурса и исследований, что усложняет поиск общих основ для диалога.
