On June 4, 2016 the Russian International Affairs Council in partnership with the Baltic Forum (Latvia) and the Institute of Contemporary Development held a seminar “Russia-EU: the Challenges of Interdependence and Setting a New Agenda.” The discussion focused on key challenges to the European security and ways to address them; the prospects for Russia-EU economic cooperation; the opportunities for cooperation between Russia and Latvia in the economic sphere and in the sphere of security.

On June 4, 2016 the Russian International Affairs Council in partnership with the Baltic Forum (Latvia) and the Institute of Contemporary Development held a seminar “Russia-EU: the Challenges of Interdependence and Setting a New Agenda.”

The discussion focused on key challenges to the European security and ways to address them; the prospects for Russia-EU economic cooperation; the opportunities for cooperation between Russia and Latvia in the economic sphere and in the sphere of security.

The participants agreed to hold a major Baltic Forum in October 2016 for discussing bilateral cooperation between Russia and Latvia, as well as issues of Russia-EU interaction and approaches to the solution of global problems.

The seminar was attended by RIAC President Igor Ivanov; RIAC Director General Andrey Kortunov; RIAC member Igor Yurgens, President of the All-Russian Insurance Association, Member of the Board of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs; Jānis Urbanovičs, President of the Baltic Forum; Aivis Ronis, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Latvia (2010), Minister for Transport of Latvia (2011-2013); Juris Paiders, President of the Union of Journalists of Latvia, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of theNeatkarīgā Rīta Avīze; Sergey Kulik, Director for International Development at the Institute for Contemporary Development; RIAC Vice-President Vyacheslav Trubnikov, Member of the Directorate of the RAS Institute of World Economy and International Relations (IMEMO), General of the Army, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation; RIAC member Artem Malgin, Counselor-Chief of the Rector’s Office of MGIMO-University; Vladislav Vorotnikov, Research Fellow at the North European and Baltic Studies Center at MGIMO-University.
