On December 13, 2017, Shanghai (PRC) hosted a meeting for Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC) delegation and representatives of Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences (SASS). 

RIAC delegation at the event included Timur Makhmutov, RIAC Deputy Director of Programs; Ksenia Kuzmina, RIAC Program Coordinator; and Yuri Kulintsev,  Associate Researcher at the Institute of Far Eastern Studies (IFES) Russian Academy of Sciences, RIAC expert. SASS was represented by Pan Dawei, Director of the Center for Russian Studies; Wu Xueming, Director of Office of International Cooperation; and Li Yihai, Think Tank Foundation, Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences. The sides discussed possible joint RIAC and SASS projects.

The discussion in the course of the event also focused on Russia-China partnership following the results of the XIX Congress of the Communist Party of China and the upcoming presidential elections in Russia. SASS, SIIS (Shanghai Institute for International Studies), and SISU (Shanghai International Studies University) experts took part in the event.
