On February 9, 2016 the Russian International Affairs Council in partnership with the Delegation of the European Union to Russia held a round table to discuss the state of relations between Russia and the EU as well as cooperation prospects. RIAC members, leading Russian and European experts took part in the discussion, aimed to digest the differences in attitudes and perceptions of the current situation in the relations between Russia and the EU and to consider possible ways of surmounting the latter.

On February 9, 2016 the Russian International Affairs Council in partnership with the Delegation of the European Union to Russia held a round table to discuss the state of relations between Russia and the EU as well as cooperation prospects.

RIAC members, leading Russian and European experts took part in the discussion, aimed to digest the differences in attitudes and perceptions of the current situation in the relations between Russia and the EU and to consider possible ways of surmounting the latter.

RIAC President Igor Ivanov, Andrey Kelin, Director for the Department of European Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, and Vygaudas Ušackas, European Union Ambassador to the Russian Federation, opened the meeting.

Apart from today’s Roundtable, three more meetings of experts on relations between Russia and the EU are expected to take place in Russia and EU countries in 2016 to discuss various topical issues of Russia-EU relations. The meetings will develop recommendations, aimed at restoring confidence and promoting cooperation.
