On November 23, 2015, RIAC Deputy Program Director Timur Makhmutov and Program Coordinator Vladimir Morozov met with a delegation of the Friedrich Ebert Foundation. The event was also attended by representatives of the German Marshall Fund of the United States, Eurasia Forum, Amicus Europae – Foundation of Aleksander Kwasniewski, and European Parliament. The participants discussed report “EU and the East. Four Scenarios for Relations between the EU, the Russian Federation and Common Neighbors” prepared by the Friedrich Ebert Foundation.

The participants discussed report “EU and the East. Four Scenarios for Relations between the EU, the Russian Federation and Common Neighbors” prepared by the Friedrich Ebert Foundation.

Despite recent efforts to set forth a constructive dialogue between Moscow and Brussels, relations between Russia and East European countries are still strained.

The discussants agreed that although the common house scenario with pragmatic cooperation of the EU, Russia and common neighbors is the most attractive, with the account of amassed contradictions the split house scenario appears more likely.
