On July 25, 2018, Andrey Kortunov, RIAC Director General, and Jon Huntsman, U.S. Ambassador to Russia, had a meeting at the U.S. Embassy in Moscow.

The following issues were discussed in the course of the meeting: preliminary results of the Russia-the U.S. summit in Helsinki, promising areas of cooperation between the two countries, the possible role of independent think tanks and civil society institutions in addressing the issues that divide Russia and the United States and in expanding Russia-the U.S. interaction in various spheres.
