The book "GLOBALIZATION 2.0. New Approaches to Research and Teaching " Is Released


The book is the result of a joint Russian-Italian project "Globalization 2.0", implemented by the Russian International Affairs Council in partnership with the Venice International University. The book is a collection of bachelor's, master's and doctoral (Ph.D.) curricula and courses on the problems of globalization of leading Russian and Italian universities.

On February 1, 2016 the Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC) hosted the award ceremony for the 5th Russian Contest of Young International Affairs Journalists organized by RIAC together with the “International Affairs” journal and the Russian Union of Journalists. RIAC at World Forum for Democracy in Strasbourg


On November 7–9, 2016, annual World Forum for Democracy took place in the Council of Europe, Strasbourg. Europe has lately survived a number of challenges like migration crisis, terrorist attacks, and economic slowdown. These challenges has made Europeans think about the future of democracy. What will future bring to Europe? How will the idea of democracy be modified? What has to be done in order to build a society based on stability, freedom, and social inclusion? These were the key issues of the 2016 forum agenda, the main topic being «Democracy and equality — does education matter?»

RIAC establishing cooperation with Danish university


On September 6, 2016, the Russian International Affairs Council received students from the Odense University. The event was opened by RIAC Program Manager Ekaterina Chimiris who briefed the guests on the Council's education programs and openings for foreign visiting students. Then Program Manager Anna Kuznetsova dwelled on the A+Standard project and MGIMO professor Anton Gumensky shared his views on the situation in Denmark and Russia.

RIAC program “Global Science 2.0” for the scientific community


On May 18, 2016 RIAC Program Director Ivan Timofeev held a session “Preparation of scientific articles for SCOPUS and WEB of Science collected articles; Global Education program experience within the framework of the International Conference “Deaf-Blind People in the Modern World: Breaking the Boundaries of the Possible.” In his speech he focused on the peculiarities of publishing the results of Russian scientists’ research in foreign peer-reviewed scientific journals, as well as outlined the underlying potential problems that may be encountered in this process.

RIAC at Digital BRICS Conclave 2016 in India


On April 28-29, 2016 New Delhi hosted a BRICS international conference on cybersecurity and combating cyber threats. RIAC Program Coordinator Anna Kuznetsova represented the Russian side at the session. She spoke about the initiatives of the Russian Federation at the international level and at the level of state policy.

Global Education as a Tool for Creating an Inclusive Society


On April 27, a breakout session hosted by the Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC) entitled “Fostering Inclusiveness and Integration through Global Education” was held as part of the 7th UN Alliance of Civilizations Global Forum in Baku, Azerbaijan. The session was moderated by RIAC Programme Manager Ekaterina Chimiris and saw participants discuss various approaches to education and present specific educational practices designed to help overcome the difficulties that can arise when cultures clash.

108 Soft Power Elements of Russian Universities on the Internet


On March 22, 2016 an open discussion “108 Soft Power Elements of Russian Universities on the Internet” took place at the venue of the Valdai International Discussion Club. The discussion was devoted to the publication of the English version of the Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC) report “Electronic Internationalization: English-Language Online Resources of Russian Universities.”
