On March 14–16, 2017, Berkeley (U.S.A.) hosted VII Global Cyberspace Cooperation Summit organized by East West Institute. Global summit is the Institute's flagship event that has been held in various countries (the U.S.A., India, Germany, Great Britain) since 2010. Pavel Sharikov, RIAC expert, and Maria Smekalova, RIAC website editor, represented RIAC at the event. Maria Smekalova spoke at the "Insights from Young Leaders" plenary panel. RIAC and EWI are working on a joint Russia-U.S. cooperation in cyberspace project.

On May 16, 2016 the Russian International Affairs Council together with the EastWest Institute held an international seminar “Russia-US Cyber Cooperation – Building New Relations.” During the seminar, the participating experts discussed cooperation in countering cyber terrorism; indentifying terminology, critical for Russia and the United States in the field of cyber security; strengthening cooperative action and early warning of cyber attacks; the state’s role in the Internet development and the interaction of the Internet and business communities of the two countries.

RIAC’s infographics on Russian-German relations has won an award in Digital Communication AWARDS – 2016 special nomination. The infographics, prepared within the framework of RIAC and Körber Foundation joint initiative “German-Russian International Affairs Dialogue (GRID),” covers economic indicators of Russian-German relations in 2014-2015, and reveals the data on trade, mutual investment, tourism and academic exchange between the Russian Federation and Germany.

On February 9, 2016 Moscow hosted an annual meeting of the Cyber Security Forum. The meeting was held in Digital October under the auspices of the Russian Association for Electronic Communications (RAEC) and the Regional Public Center of Internet-technologies (ROCIT) and support from the Russo-British Chamber of Commerce and the Franco-Russian Chamber of Commerce (CCIFR). The event was timed to Safer Internet Day and Safe Runet Week. The forum was attended by representatives of government agencies and businesses, as well as Russian and foreign experts.

On December 3-5, 2014, RIAC Program Assistant Maria Gurova took part in the Global Cyberspace Cooperation Summit V held in Berlin and sponsored by the EastWest Institute and German Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The forum gathered about 300 participants including delegates from the government, academia, media (Der Spiegel, et al), major corporations (Microsoft, Comcast, PriceWaterhouseCoopers), numerous NGOs from the United States, Europe and Asia. During two days seven groups were discussing the development of the Internet and cyberspace, security, creation of mechanisms for the cyberspace regulation and international interaction. The final gathering was devoted to international regulation of the Internet, enhanced protection of national infrastructures, prevention and nonproliferation of cyber weapons, big data technologies and Internet anonymity.

On July 9-12, RIAC members took part in the 5th International Trade Fair Intelligent Industry (INNOPROM), Yekaterinburg, the largest event of the type held in Russia with participation of government officials, business executives, Russian ambassadors in Europe, Africa, Asia and Latin America, as well as experts.

RIAC Program Director Ivan Timofeyev held workshop “Promotion of Russian Exporters in Foreign Internet: Basics of Content Management” for businesses and government of Tver Region. Focused on RIAC’s A+Standard program, the workshop was used to familiarize the participants with the fundamentals for the making of the corporate websites to reflect the specifics of the target audience, including consumers, investors, creditors, journalists and other groups.

Ivan Timofeev made a report on "Representation of corporate social responsibility in the Internet resources of the company", which is the result of expert work undertaken by the Russian International Affairs Council in cooperation with the Russian Managers Association. The Council has analyzed applications in the special category of the People Investor contest "The best representation of corporate social responsibility in the Internet resources of the company". The expert analysis was done using the A+Standard methodology devised in RIAC.

RIAC Program Director Ivan Timofeev is absolutely sure that universities may apply methods of exporting companies to go global. Export of educational and research services requires intense engagement of foreign target audiences. This is what is widely used in business where the Internet becomes a key tool to promote companies’ interests in the global market. Universities may and should take over the business approaches, especially if they aspire to high international ratings.
