The proportion of foreign students studying in the U.S. and Russia is exactly the same – 5%. However, the actual number of foreign students in the United States is four times higher

In the 2016/2017 academic year, the number of foreign students studying in the United States surpassed one million for the first time ever, and stands at 1,044,000 (a 7 per cent increase from the previous year). As of today, around 5% of all students in the United States come from abroad. Foreign students bring in $38 billion dollars to the U.S. economy every year.

Education - China’s most important economic weapon

The Chinese education sector is the largest globally. In 2012, it had nearly 200-million full-time students. With admission to the World Trade Organization and the further opening of the Chinese market, coupled with parents’ high expectations of and investment in education and the failure of the current Chinese education system to meet people’s needs, the Chinese education sector has been, and will continue to be, an attractive business for international educational institutions in the near future.
